Event: Read Sing Craft | Feb 11, 2026
On February 11, 2026, five youth volunteers organized and delivered a Spring Festival Sing, Read, and Bookmark Activity at Richmond Family Place for local families and children.
The program included storytelling, singing, and a bookmark activity related to the Spring Festival. Youth volunteers shared traditional stories such as the legend of Nian and the Chinese Zodiac, helping children learn about Chinese culture in a simple and engaging way.
The event also included a short music segment with guitar accompaniment, where volunteers sang together with the children. As part of the activity, children made horse-themed bookmarks inspired by the Chinese zodiac, which they could take home.
During the program, volunteers encouraged children to participate by asking simple questions and inviting them to share their ideas. The activity gave children an opportunity to learn about Spring Festival traditions while allowing youth volunteers to practice organizing activities and engaging with younger children in the community.
